The 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan starts at $55,300, or just $255 more than the outgoing 2020 model. That gets you a rear-wheel-drive E350, which just as before is powered by a 255-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four. Step up to the E450, which starts at $63,050, and you get the new turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with EQ Boost mild hybrid tech in place of the old turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6. The straight-six makes the same 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque as the outgoing engine, but up to 21 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of that is available instantaneously from an electric motor. The version of that engine in the Mercedes-AMG E53 sedan, which starts at $74,950, produces 429 ponies and 384 lb-ft. Mercedes' 4Matic all-wheel drive comes standard on the E53, but is a $2,500 option on every model across the board. The 2021 E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet come in E450 (both rear- and all-wheel-drive) and E53 flavors. The E450 Coupe and Cabriolet start at $66,000 and $73,000, respectively, while the E53 Coupe is priced from $77,300 and the E53 Cabriolet from $83,900. As we previously reported, you won't be able to spec an E-Class coupe or convertible in fire-breathing E63 trim. For that, you need to pick a sedan or wagon. The 2021 Mercedes-AMG E63 S sedan starts at $108,550 and continues to pack a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 good for 603 hp and 627 lb-ft, which gets distributed to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission and AMG-tuned 4Matic+ AWD system. If you want that same level of grunt in wagon form, it'll cost you at least $113,500. Finally, there's the E450 4Matic All Terrain, a crossoverized version of the E-Class wagon that starts at $68,650. Mercedes knew not to mess too much with an already great interior design, but some improvements were deemed necessary. For starters, there are now new color combinations and wood trims, while the adaptive driver's seat can be adjusted to comfortably accommodate anyone's body style. But perhaps the biggest interior update is, believe it or not, the steering wheel. Yes, really. It can be had in either all-leather or a combination of leather and wood finish. More importantly, it now features capacitive Touch Control buttons instead of optical ones. Capacitive detection has also been added to verify that the driver is fully attentive and ready to take over driving while the semi-autonomous driving system is activated. Until this year, the wheel determined whether the driver was in control by simply monitoring periodic steering inputs. All new E-Class models receive the latest version of the MBUX infotainment system, featuring two 12.3-inch screens located side-by-side on the dash. One serves as the driver's instrument gauge while the second is the infotainment screen. Buyers have the option to tack on an augmented reality navigation system.
